She 04:53
She She draws my eyes like explosions of fire She She's got a decoder ring in her pocket She She's already been through my laundry and garbage So there is nothing to fear there is nothing to fear there is nothing to fear because she already knows all about it She She is dancing on swords and machine guns She's got it all If she sees it, then she's got to have one You You've got not a single defense, you can forget it, son! For she will tear you apart she will tear you apart she will tear you apart as a reward when you have won She She crafts the stars while you stare in silence She She's weaving a glittering scroll of papyrus She's all I see She's all that I see when I close my eyelids and I would take her to bed Yes, I would take her to bed Oh, I would take her to bed... but she'd be the pilot

the Sky is filled with Perpendicular Lines all the time, now but The People below are Looking Down at their phones and nobody sees them at all Oh the World has gotten Very Strange I no longer recognize most of the things people say to me Oh so many seem to have no sense of self Without a Purpose, they're hoarding material things in search of wealth; we've forgotten The Source of Things and the Sky is filled with Perpendicular Lines all the time, now but The People below are Looking Down at their phones and nobody notices at all Oh the World has gotten Very Strange so much stranger than I ever remember it being before Oh but maybe it's always been this way Maybe we chose This Path before we were born but the Sky is filled with Perpendicular Lines all the time, now but The People below that just Look Down at their phones they can't see The Picture at all I can feel a change comin' I believe a change is comin' I can feel a change comin' There has to be a change comin'; The Wheel still spins around... but the Sky is filled with Perpendicular Lines all the time, now but The People below that just Look Down at their phones they can't see The Picture at all and the Sky is filled with Perpendicular Lines all the time, now and The Image revealed is a Miraculous Field; it's the greatest creation of all and the Sky is filled with Perpendicular Lines all the time, now and The Image revealed is a Magnetic Field; it's the greatest creation of all

Empty House 05:52
I've been working and working... so hard but the fruits of my labors are gone I've been working on working it out but something still feels wrong Still trying to Pay The Rent Still trying to Pay My Dues Still trying to Do My Best Still end the day... feeling used Lately something's tearing at the seams A burning coal inside of me reveals my inner dreams Please, give me just an hour to explain; we aren't meant to ignore the pain; we collapse and then rise again In my Empty House, I've seen you walking by Neighbors cast away their eyes I'm filled with useless alibis I wish that you would stop and say hi I wish that I could stay high Lately something's tearing at the seams A burning coal inside of me reveals my inner dreams Please, give me just an hour to explain; we aren't meant to ignore the pain; we collapse and then rise again

about

My wife & kids left me alone with a proverbial Empty House for an entire 48 hours, which is the longest I've been without them for years. At first, anxiety set in: what would I do to make this precious time valuable?

Did I get all the laundry and yard-work done? Heck no! I got out my electric guitar - that I've had for 20 years and played with some great rock bands - and I got out my little amp and turned it up. And then I hit record. This little album is the result.

I spontaneously gave myself a 48-hour-challenge to complete both the songwriting and recording for a short EP. I sat down and scratched out the lyrics in the first 2 hours, and then practiced them a couple times each on my acoustic guitar. I opened up the floodgates, and felt the familiar rush of the muses arriving. I feel as though these songs were channeled through me from another place; they came almost instantly.

This year we lost two great musical heroes: Dr. John & Roky Erickson. Certainly, the manner in which these songs flowed from my pen and into my microphone was inspired by my own return to the psychedelic 1960s, and listening to a good dose of the 13th Floor Elevators and other underrated bands of that era.

Clearly, more could be done with more time and equipment. But I did what I set out to accomplish and I'm happy with it, and I hope that you, too, find something of value in these 29 minutes.

If you would like me to have more time and freedom to write and record new music, please support me by making a donation for this album.
