got my windows facing East
Morning skyfire paints my face
as I rise from the sheets
I recognize my only chance to chase the dawn
It's just me and the world, and I'm takin' it on!

Morning marauders rising to the streets
The people look so serious, I'd rather run with beasts
I toss a lucky quarter into every jar I see
'Cause everything I give away always comes back to me

And I sing a lazy song so I remember to take it slow
I've got broken guitars and broken teeth that chatter in the cold
But I've got what I want so I feel at home wherever I go
I've got an old soul that just rolls down the steepest slope

I had to move myself; that old witch ran me out
The dog was sick and dying, garbage piled all around
I grabbed my bags from the basement and ran to the other side of town
Now I'm living with my baby by the sweet Atlantic Ocean

I sing the blues all day even though I'm feeling fine
My old lady says I smoke too much, but she drinks all my wine
Only way to learn is to roll on through time
We get each other laughin' just to keep from cryin'

And we sing a simple song so we remember to take it slow
